New App!

Friday, September 4th, 2020

IEEE Columbus is getting its very own app for the members. The app is being developed by Ian Oberdorf using a drag and drop environment called Outsystems. Ian plans to make this be the tool that can be used to advertise events in the IEEE Columbus section and its chapters. As of writing this the app has been started and has the ability to create events and display whats been created, but at the moment the app cannot delete events. Ian plans to add abilities to communicate with other members in the section and branches that the members are connected to. In a future update Ian plans to make the settings to where members can choose to be seen by all other members of IEEE Columbus sharing their skills and bios. Ian hopes to reach all IEEE Columbus Members and hopes everyone enjoys his work in progress.

New Year New Ideas

Monday, January 6th, 2020

2020 is here and so are new solutions to how the IEEE Columbus board will be having their monthly ExCom meetings. During the 2020 year all IEEE Columbus members will have the ability to join IEEE Columbus’s ExCom meetings. How will you know where to go? During the first week of every month you will receive an email from the WebEx administrator of IEEE Columbus with the meeting link, connection instructions, and the meeting date. If you loose connection information don’t worry the WebEx administrator is also the Website administrator and he will post the instructions on the website under the EX COM link which will feature a countdown to the next meeting and all information needed for the meeting. IEEE Officers will have ability to meet in person at a meeting location which is to be decided. We hope to see you all online.

IEEE Anual Dinner Party

Sunday, December 15th, 2019

The IEEE 2019 diner party was a great event to remember for the attending IEEE members. Lascala’s in Dublin Ohio was the destination where Columbus IEEE members could meet and greet each other, enjoy some great meals prepared by Lascala’s, and some members received rewards for their services to IEEE Columbus handed out by Vice Chair Helen Winfrey and Secretary Howard Jones. Ian Oberdorf received an award for his dedication to rebuild the IEEE Columbus website after it was lost due to an unpaid bill. Power and Energy Society also received an award for largest society in IEEE Columbus. All who received the award also received a $50 giftcard to Amazon.

Author: Ian Oberdorf (Webmin)

While I was surfing the World Wide Web I managed to hit an IEEE Facebook page which landed me on a video that is great for those trying to recruit new members. This video is currently embedded on our Membership page from the Facebook page and I have requested a copy to make downloadable so our recruiters can download a copy to use for their presentations.
